Just down the road is the small commercial area of Honomu. It’s slightly off the Belt Highway, and has a feel of old Hawaii. Formerly home to the Honomu Sugar Company, it is now home to a cafe, a bakery, a zipline tour company, a lovely koa furniture shop, and several gift shops and places of worship.
Hilo has much to offer in the way of shopping, restaurants, entertainment, medical care, a University of Hawaii campus as well as a community college, and an airport. It is also the seat of the County
